Utilizing photography to achieve design goals

The purpose of this project was to serve as a technical study while having full control of a photography studio. Practicing with strobe lighting, my goal was to capture my model with dramatic lighting. Placing him in a near complete dark room with a strobe light above, I was able to achieve the lighting I was looking for. Initially, I was framing my shots to emulate the photography found on the cover of the EA Sports NHL video games, but after obtaining my photos, I was intrigued by the dynamics of combining imagery and went with a poster design instead. After sketching the figures from the photos together into one composition, it was clear to me that including two subjects provided the piece with some interesting visual motion. The resulting poster could be used in a marketing and promotional setting, as well as in-game presentation.
