Triptych Full Mockup.jpg

A poster triptych for an event like no other.

Face-off

This poster pits the two 2020 Stanley Cup finalists against

one another in an epic face-off between two cities. This

poster could be used as advertising for the broadcast of the

hockey games. The players have worked their entire lives to

reach this point, so a poster showcasing their platform

should compliment their journey to this stage. It is not easy

to make it this far into the season, especially in 2020, so the

players being depicted as goliaths drives that sense of

importance.

Victor the Conn

As an individual award, the Conn Smythe trophy is handed

out to the MVP of the playoffs. This year’s recipient was

defenseman Victor Hedman of the Tampa Bay Lightning. He

stepped up and preformed amazingly while the team was

without captain Steven Stamkos. Since the Conn Smythe is

an individual award, I wanted to focus solely on Hedman

himself. Set above the clouds and the combination of the

white background, this poster gives off a sense of prestige, perfect for

commemorating such an achievement.

Bubble Hockey Champs

2020 has been a crazy year, and that hasn’t been an

exception for the NHL. Due to the pandemic, the league was

forced to delay their playoffs nearly four months and play in

only two designated ‘bubble’ cities. The players in Edmonton

and Toronto were quarantined from the outside world as they

battled it out along the quest for the Stanley Cup. The

bubbles were a complete success in terms of entertainment

and player safety. After 30,000 COVID tests amongst players,

team personnel, and other staff, not a single test came back

positive. In this poster, I wanted to show the players lifting

the Cup inside a ‘bubble.’ With bubble hockey also being a

fun arcade game, I wanted to play on the idea that the Tampa

Bay Lightning are 2020 Bubble Hockey Champions.

Jersey Swap

Did you notice? A trained hockey mind may have been able to point out that the two ‘titans’ in the sky are Nathan MacKinnon and Sidney Crosby; neither of whom play for either the Dallas Stars or Tampa Bay Lightning. With limited source imagery, I ‘jersey swapped’ both players into Stars and Lightning uniforms respectively. For the sake of creative liberty, these two players have been transformed into Tyler Seguin of the Stars, and Nikita Kucherov for the lightning.
